English Plus Culture

Improve your English and learn about a unique British culture

If you want to improve your English but do something different this year, then why not join our summer school for the over-40s.

The CSL English Plus Culture course is similar to Summer School Swansea, with a focus on task-based learning and using your language in real-life situations. It also concentrates on British culture, particularly Wales, which has its own special customs, traditions and way-of-life that we want to be the first to show you.

Mornings are spent in class, studying useful everyday language and a focus on speaking and listening. During the afternoons and evenings, the group has the chance to experience Welsh and English culture first-hand, visiting castles, attending cultural events and eating local food.

Example trips and activities include:

• An outing to Castell Coch (Red Castle), a ‘fairy-tale' castle built on Medieval remains and located in beautiful woodlands
• An excursion to the town of Laugharne, home to Wales' most famous poet, Dylan Thomas
• A day-trip to London, visiting some of the world's most famous sites and doing a bit of shopping
• Watching a rugby match, Wales' national sport, at the Cardiff Arms Park Stadium
• Listening to Morriston Orpheus Choir near Swansea - male choirs are famous across the world, and Morriston has one of the best-known singing groups in the UK

The course is designed to run over one to four weeks, with classes from Monday toFriday. Lessons are held at the school in the mornings, and there are 15 hoursof class time each week.
